2012 was a good year thanks to these guys. They made sure our parties and clubs were never boring. They rocked every speaker and made sure everybody danced. On top of it, they together took Ghana music a step ahead. They performed at all the shows. The year saw our two times artiste of the year Sarkodie winning B.E.T award for the first in the history of Ghana. Sarkodie also became the first Ghanaian musician to have his twitter account verified. D-Black last year also won Channel O award for Best West African Music Video. The azonto fever continued this year with smash hits coming from lots of artiste. Wonderful concerts with good artistes were organised during the year. There were lots of hit songs within the year but these are the once which had popular play at events, radio and t.v stations and at many occasions. These are the hit songs of 2012 by OMG!Ghana.
E.L – Obuu Mo
If you ask us, we’d say this song was EL’s breakthrough. He shot one of the best video in Ghana to it which boosted the songs success. The video was priased. EL’s song Obuu Mo rocked most stages.
Guru – Lapaz Toyota
Before Guru’s smash hit, Guru had previously released lots of songs and lots which had a medium hit. Lapaz Toyota was one of the big songs early 2012. Which also shot producer ‘Ball J’ to one of the best producers in the industry. In all Guru enjoyed 2012 with lots of shows.
Dr. Slim – Ole Seke Ni Woye
This song was recorded about a year ago and out of the blue, BOOM! it became one of the biggest songs. A few controversies hit the song when it started creeping up between artists on the song but it was resolved and till date it’s one of the most played party songs.
R2bees – Walahi
The words in this song is encouraging and the song itself goes in. Mugeez as the lead singer and Killbeats made sure the song was well mixed and mastered with good kicks and snare. R2Bees has been consistent in the industry since their breakthrough.
D-Black – Vera
I personally didn’t like this song upon it’s release but I got addicted to it. With the funny lines, hook and verses. You just can’t help it but dance to it. A classy music video which was shot for it which shooted the song straight to number one.
Edem – Over Again
The video of this song wasn’t the best but the song was untouchable. Youngest producer ‘Genius’ made sure Edem had his best beat to rock on.
Sarkodie – Azonto Fiesta
We didn’t hear what Appietus said but I can say this song had the best beat and it’s the best song to dance azonto to, hence the title. It’s still Sarkodie’s only danceable song still enjoying airplay now.
Nicholas Omane Acheampong – Zaphenath Paneah
It’s one of the few gospel songs that get played in the clubs. The song was hyped-up so much that it made Nicholas Omane’s come-back a memorable one.
Fuse ODG – Azonto
Out of nowhe Fuse ODG came, rocked and conquered. His song ‘Azonto’ raised Azonto Music’s bar to it’s peak. Some people actually think he brought azonto because his video really enjoyed it’s time to the extent a brazillian version of his song was made by some unknown Brazilians.
Keche – Aluguntugui
Right after reaping from the cash Keche made with ‘Sorkode’, they didn’t waste no time but reprise another HIT song titled ‘Aluguitugui’. Keche has been touring and performing on every show. That’s the power of ‘Aluguitugui’. Leave your comments.
Kaakie – Toffee Pon Tonque
Kaakie is the baddest dancehall queen. No video, but she’s still rocking and performing on all shows. All she does is release HITS. Everything from her is HOT!.
Congrats to these guys for their input. They indeed rocked.
