I always get excited anytime I see the youth of this country doing something to change the status quo. A Non governmental organisation, Youth Focus, has setup a vocational training institute at the Adum Prison in Kumasi. The organisation intents to further setup these centers in all prisons across the country to enable inmates acquire a vocation while they are incarcerated.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE..
The purpose of this programme is to ensure professionalism and efficiency in addressing and educating the youths towards a successful future. Its a medium by which the problems youths of the youth will be adhered to, that is ‘ youth-my life, my work and my future’ is the concern of YOUTH FOCUS. The organisation is non political but strictly finding ways of helping and educating the youths for good and brighter future…
WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUTH FOCUS PRISONS PROJECT???
Youth focus has established a vocational institution at the Adum Prisons Kumasi to give training to the youth inmates there. Youth focus will employ these inmates after they are released in the youth focus shops in Kumasi. We train youth inmates in all kinds of vocations, from hairdressing, barbering, bridal decoration, funeral undertakers etc. We are therefore using this medium to ask of funds from the individuals to support us equip our various work shops. Remember not all inmates are guilty of their charges.We intend establishing these vocational institutions in every prison in the country.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUTH FOCUS ANTI STIGMA AGAINST EX-CONVICTS???
Youth focus as part of our responsibilities will be touring all churches, schools, homes etc to educate people on how to treat ex-convicts in our society. Its obvious most of us see them as.. Deviant.. Mind you, he/she has been reformed and needs our love and care. You can join the train as we tour the whole country.WHAT IS ABOUT YOUTH FOCUS SCHOOL TOUR???
Youth focus is touring schools in Ghana to educate the youth on how to live life in and out of school, how to choose tertiary courses etc…As part of our responsibilities, we are lookin at possible ways of creating employment for the disabled, building up an industry mainly for the disabled.
