Afro-pop dancehall act Wiyalaa has disclosed to Abrantepa on Radio Univers in Accra that most of the big events do not really pay as compared to the cooperate ones. The singer who has three nominations at this year’s All Africa Music Awards said that accounts to why she is rarely seen at hyped events.
There is money in music but it is only when you are serious and brand yourself well. People will then take you serious, and you can benefit financially from it.”
“I do a lot of corporate gigs because that is where the money is,”
“You normally do not see me on the hyped shows because it can be tricky. Sometimes you are asked to come for the money later only for them to forget about you.”
“On other occasions, you have to beg even before you climb the stage. So I would rather do the corporate shows where I get my money instantly,”
