Gun-toting lawmaker arrested for threatening party leader
Washington D.C. politics are vicious, but they have nothing on the Wild West. Nevada lawmaker Steven Brooks was jailed Saturday for allegedly threatening the state house speaker-elect, Democrat Marilyn Kirkpatrick. Brooks, also a Democrat, was detained while driving around Las Vegas with a loaded gun in his car. He was apparently upset about not being appointed chair of the Ways and Means Committee, and he was overheard saying that Kirkpatrick’s” first day as speaker would be her last,” according to Sen. Kelvin Atkinson. Perhaps Brooks will soon find himself chair of the orange jumpsuit committee. [Source]
