Mahama promised Ghanaians in his new year message on the 31st of December, at the Perez Chapel that he will banish the constant and erratic power issues in Ghana this year, 2015, even though many took it as one of his many unfulfilled promises.
He confirmed it today when he spoke with Kwame Adinkrah on Angel FM this morning. He said he was not promising Ghanaians anything but telling God his heart desires.
Now this is the interesting part; it [2015] will be one in which we will banish darkness from our land and put an end to dumsor forever,
I will not say I gave a promise. It was a last day of 2014, we were having a watchnight service to see the beginning of 2015 and during this period everybody says his heart desires to God in order for him to listen to their prayers.
I am the President and one of the issues troubling Ghanaians is this energy crisis and so if as the President, I tell God to banish darkness and let the dumsor end, is it not a prayer I’m saying to God? It was a prayer … I have faith that God has listened to my prayers,” he said.
He further stated that contrary to speculations that Ghana’s economy has rotten, Ghana’s economy is doing alright and the standard of living in Ghana has seen general transformation.
If you take a look at Ghana’s economy, you take twenty years ago- 1994, or 1992 and you assess Ghana’s performance, the state of economy as well as the standard of living as of now, you will notice that Ghana’s economy has been growing, averagely by 11 percent every year.
