2013 AFCON: Wakaso plays down absence for Niger clash
Suspended Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says the Black Stars can cope without him for Monday’s final Group B match against Niger. The Espanyol ace picked up his second yellow at the tournament after an illegal goal celebration.
The 22-year-old pulled his jersey over his head to show the inscription “Allah is Great” on an under shirt when he scored a 38th penalty in the 1-0 win over Mali. Wakaso has been one of Ghana’s high performers at the tournament but the roaming midfielder claims Ghana have quality substitutes to replace him.
“I don’t think there will be a problem because as you can see , we have a lot of players that can replace me so what we need to do is to work hard and get our last three points,” Wakaso told MTNFootball.com
Wakaso is playing in his first Africa Cup of Nations tournament since impressing in the Spanish La Liga for Villarreal and now Espanyol.
