I’ve always said that most Ghanaian artistes do not know what they are doing.

They fail to understand that every genre of music has a certain attitude, image, character, fashion to it. You don’t say you’re a rap artiste and dress like a Rock artiste.

Thankfully, I’m not alone and obviously not crazy for having these thoughts. An industry legend, Hammer of The Last 2, has reiterated these sentiments. Hammer posted his thoughts on the image of the African artiste on his Facebook page and we can’t agree with him more.

According to him, most African artistes suffer from identity and image crisis.  Read his post below:

A lot of Artistes in Africa suffer from identity and image crises… I see this great look and immediately think, wow good looking hip hop artistes but then I open the song and its great music alright but not hip hop as portrayed in their presentation.
Notice tht rock Stars dnt dress like hip hop stars and reggae stars dnt even dress like dancehall stars.
Let’s try to make it easy for consumers to identify with us and our music by portraying our true art in our appearance. Instead of everyone dressing like pusha t or big Sean. Afro pop acts can also create a unique look tht can help authenticate tht genre like the others.

A lot of Artistes in Africa suffer from identity and image crises… I see this great look and immediately think, wow…
