It is 2015, I am not sure you need to be reminded as we are in April (almost May), however, it looks like some of the ladies are still holding on to ghosts of the past.
Here are some makeup and beauty trends that we as Ghanaian women need to ditch; let us leave them in the past.
1. Unnatural Eyebrows
In 2015, we are all shifting towards a more natural and subtle makeup look. Your eyebrows are one of the most important features on your face and can easily make or break your face. They do not need to be accentuated with a black pencil. Please stick to a more natural dark brown pencil to fill in your eyebrows. Infact whilst we are on the topic of eyebrows, let me take a minute to say that shaving off all your brows and drawing on a new set is not the business. Let’s stick to a more natural shape when we are getting our brows waxed/threaded/razored. Using too much concealer underneath your brows to ‘shape’ them only makes you look like you are trying too hard. Choose a concealer that is just a shade or two lighter than your skin tone.
2. Unnatural Weaves
Ladies, let us leave some of our bundles at home! Using 5 bundles of brazillian/peruvian weave in your hair is not cute! Not only do you look like you are carrying a house on your head, but I can bet you that you are sweating twice as normal on your scalp. Speaking of which, installing weave after weave after weave after braids after wig cap is not healthy for your hair. Going to the salon to take your weave out, washing it and then installing it again is not going to allow your own hair to grow. Give your hair a little break between weaves. Also, ‘ombre’ hair is not for everyone. There are different shades of blonde to suit different skin tones. Please visit a salon if you want to install “ombre” hair so they advise you on the colour and style. Lastly, if your hair is natural and you do not want to have to straighten it everyday, please go for a full wig or a lace front wig so we don’t have to see your unblended leave out.
3.Black Lip Liner
Yes, ladies we know you want to line and accentuate those lips but black is not the way to do it! Let’s stick to brown or a pencil that is similar to the lipstick you are about to use.
