Lady Gaga issued a series of personal tweets on Tuesday to announce she will be canceling three concert dates for her ongoing Monster Ball tour, citing a show injury and chronic pain.
Gaga — who has more than 35 million followers — said she has been hiding a show injury from her staff for awhile, in fear show dates would be pulled. After her performance in Montreal last night, she said she “could not walk and still can’t.”
Her doctors are calling the ailment “synovitis,” which is severe inflammation of joints.
“There’s an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball tour. I’m so sorry. I barely know what to say,” Lady Gaga tweeted. “I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I’ve been praying it would heal.”
Canceled shows include ones in Chicago, Detroit, and Hamilton, Ontario.
This isn’t the first time Gaga has been open about health issues. She is borderline positive for Lupus, which is often associated with arthritis and synovitis.
