The family of the late New Times Corporation journalist, Samuel Nuamah who died whiles on official duty, have told the President that they’ll have preferred a house to the ¢20,000 that he is giving them.

The family expressed their grievance after President Mahama presented a compensation package worth ¢93,000 to the family of the late journalist.

The package consists of ¢50,000 into the endowment fund set up for his little son, ¢18,500 for his wife, Lillian, ¢20,000 for his mother and father and ¢5,000 for his family.

The late Samuel Nuamah lost his life in an accident whiles returning from an official assignment with the President. The Ford van in which they were traveling, lost control, somersaulted and crashed, killing him and injuring many.

In an interview expressing their appreciation and further appeal on Neat FM’s “Ghana Montie” with Akwasi Aboagye, Samuel’s mother, Madam Georgina Opoku indicated that even though they are very appreciative of what the president has done for them, they were expecting more than GH¢20,000 since their main dream now is to acquire a house.

“I would be happier if the president gave us a house. That has been the call from the family and friends. We were expecting more than the GH¢20,000 but we appreciate the president’s effort. We’ll invest and plan towards our future home. GH¢20,000 can’t afford us a house.

We don’t have our own house and we are worried about that, currently we are renting a place in Accra. Sammy was our only hope in helping us acquire a house of our own and now he is no more, that is sad,” she said.
