Conjoined Twins Update: One Of The Seperated Twins Is Dead

One of the Siamese twins separated Tuesday after a marathon surgical operation has died.

Dr Boateng Nimako of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital confirmed this to Luv FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah Wednesday evening. She was said to have died from a hole in heart complication.

The two were said to be in critical condition after the surgery and were kept at the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors are still working to keep the other twin alive.

A team of 17 doctors spent nearly nine hours to perform the complex surgery on the Siamese twins joined at the stomach and waist.

The story of the three-month-old infants gained a great deal of national attention after it was highlighted in a Hotline Documentary aired on Joy FM.

MTN Foundation donated 20 thousand cedis towards the surgery while Joy fm and its listeners raised 12,970 cedis to parents of the twins.
