Schweinsteiger returns to Germany squad
The influential midfielder returns to the national team after missing their previous game as they aim to add six more points to their World Cup qualification tally
Joachim Low has named Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sven Bender amongst his 23-man party for Germany’s upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan.
The Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund midfielders missed the Nationalelf‘s friendly against France last month due to injury, but have both shaken off their recent physical problems.
However, Low will have to make do without the services of the injured Mats Hummels and Holger Badstuber in defence, while Lazio striker Miroslav Klose is unavailable as well.
“I expect us to win both games versus Kazakhstan,” Low commented at a press conference.
“Kazakhstan choose for a physical approach and they are a good defensive unit. They will do whatever they can to break out rhythm. I’m counting on six points, though.”
Germany will travel to Kazakhstan on March 22, before hosting the same opponent four days later.
