Oscar winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has a problem with us, her fellow Kenyans. And that’s all because we love buying pirated movies instead of going to the cinemas to watch actual releases.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Lupita narrated how she ran into a friend who blatantly told her that she would not go to the cinema to watch her latest movie, Queen of Katwe but would instead wait for a bootleg copy for it. .
I ran into a friend in Kenya recently who was very excited about the movie and couldn’t wait to see it. She asked me when it would be coming out in the cinemas, but before I could respond she added, “Don’t worry, I’ll wait and buy a bootleg DVD on the streets,” wrote Lupita over the weekend.
