These Are The Most Common Jobs Of Some Tribes In Ghana

Basically, most Ghanaians love education, so these days when it comes to the white collar jobs, you’ll find all the tribes in there, however, there are some peculiar jobs that are mainly reserved for some tribes.

Here are the typical jobs and businesses the various tribes in Ghana love to engage in.


1. Frafra – Security

The Gurane people, popularly known as the Frafra due to their greetings are well-disciplined and fearless people who know how to abide by rules and so you’re safe when you leave your things in their care. You’ll find them in most of our security services.

2. Ashanti – Merchants

The Ashantis love to buy and sell and are very good entrepreneurs, school is not their kind of thing but when it comes to business, you can’t beat them to it. They are always involved in all manner of businesses provided it’s got to do with buying and selling.

3. Ewe – Carpentry

The Ewes are very good artisans and therefore are always engaged in all sort of artistry designs, including pottery, but one major business they are well known for is carpentry.

4. Sissala – Charcoal Business

The Sissalas are the major distributors of charcoal everywhere in Ghana.

5. Dagomba – Food Vendors

Every Waakye, Kooko, TZ joint is usually manned by the Dagomba people. Other tribes may have their own but the Dagomba people love to deal in food.

6. Fantis – Bakery

Fantis love white collar jobs than any other tribe in Ghana but one thing they are popularly known for is Bakery. Almost every pastry shop in Ghana is owned by a Fanti woman, it is their accolade.

7. Krobos – Trading & Farming

The Krobo people love to engage in trading, especially selling in the market. Farming is also one thing they love to do.

8. Ga’s – Fish Farming

The Gas are very good with fish farming and are said to be the best swimmers in the whole of Ghana, although they are not the only tribe that resides by the sea.
