Big Brother Nigeria is on and we’ve been following up with all the drama that the housemates have to offer.

The show started on Sunday, the 22nd of January and is filmed in South Africa. This caused an uproar on social media as many Nigerians couldn’t understand why a reality show for the country was filmed in a foreign land
According to Multichoice, this is the reason why the show is set in South Africa.
We have a fully equipped house in South Africa which is used for the Big Brother shows. For the Voice, our approach was pretty much the same. The venue is already set up with all facilities required for the successful execution of the show; this means that we are able to achieve high production values whilst meeting tight timelines/deadlines and ensuring the show comes to our viewers on time, as planned, and with the same globally renowned quality. Whilst the house is based in South Africa, the BBN show is 100% Nigerian, with fully Nigerian housemates and content.
But a lot of Nigerians are not having any of it.
And so the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the shooting of the show in Abuja.

In the statement, the minister told the NBC to determine whether Multichoice, by shooting the show in South Africa, has breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way.
And so we await the NBC’s report on the Big Brother Nigeria situation.
