Buchi Emecheta has died at the age of 72.
The author, who is known for her amazing books ‘The Joys of Motherhood’ and ‘The Bride Price’ passed away on Wednesday, the 25th of January 2017 in London in her sleep.

Buchi Emecheta authored more than 20 books which told stories with themes of child slavery, motherhood, female independence and freedom through education. This won her considerable critical acclaim and honours, including an Order of the British Empire in 2005. She has been characterised as “the first successful black woman novelist living in Britain after 1948.
Tributes have since flown from different people on social media who cite Buchi Emecheta as truly inspirational and motivational on all levels.
