NUGS To Embark On Massive Demonstration Against Government on Friday
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) would on Friday 12th April embark on a massive demonstration against the government for its failure to resolve the concerns of University teachers.
According to the secretary, Eugene Ackom-Damptey, the union’s decision to embark on the demonstration was arrived at after they noticed that the was no consensus between the parties government and the university teachers owing to the government’s lackadaisical attitude in resolving the problem.
“To us, education must be a right and not a privilege. We will not sit down for our academic calender to be disrupted”
The secretary further added that they have met with all the stakeholders involved in the issue; that is the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the University Teachers Association of Ghana yet no conclusion has been reached.
The demonstration is expected to start from Okponglo junction, make a stop at the flag staff house then to the National parliament.
