UG SRC General Election Called Off!
The Electoral Commission of the University of Ghana has called-off the impending SRC general election due to an injunction placed on the process.
Scheduled to take place on Thursday, 11th April, the election has been put on hold temporarily to allow for consensus between all parties involved.
According to our gathered information, the only female SRC presidential aspirant Ms. Amelia Amemetey secured an official injunction letter from the SRC Judicial board that was signed accordingly by the Chief Justice to put a hold on the election.
Ms. Ame who was recently cleared to join the race after she was sidelined for some reasons unknown to us said it was ‘unreasonable’ for her to campaign for just a day and then enter into the elections.
Authorities are yet to decide on a new date for the elections.
Candidates aspiring for the position of presidency are:
1. Dinko Hanaan Dinko
2. Michael Adjei Darkwah
3. Eric Edem Agbana
4. Ms. Amelia Amemetey *
In a related development, the much expected KNUST SRC general elections has also been indefinitely postponed as a result of corruption allegations leveled against the electoral commissioner.
