(MTNFOOTBALL) The Ghana Football Association has ordered a temporary ban on Asante Kotoko from using the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as its home venue with immediate effect.
This follows the violent attacks by their fans on players and match officials of Medeama after last Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at the venue.
The exasperated fans pelted the match pelted the match officials with missiles after the final whistle.
Assistant referee 1 A. S. Malik got injured during the violent attacks and the windscreen of Medeama who had two of their players pick up injuries too.
The Executive Committee took the decision is in accordance with Article 15 (2) of the GFA Regulations which states that the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of Clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.
The Premier League Board to determine the venue for the club’s subsequent home matches in accordance with the provision of Article 15 (3) of the Regulations.
The Disciplinary Committee has been charged to hear the case in accordance with the Regulations of the Association.
