(CITIFMONLINE)A three-storey uncompleted building reportedly owned by the local chapter of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, has collapsed
The incident, according to the local Secretary of the Obuasi GPRTU, Adu Gyamfi, happened at the main lorry station close to the central market around 18:20 GMT.
The Obuasi District Police Commander, DSP Mathew Asante, who confirmed the incident to Citi News said a team of police personnel is on hand to aid in the rescue of trapped persons.
According to him, construction was still ongoing on the site when the incident happened.
He however noted that “we’ve not yet come out as to whether someone has been trapped so we are making efforts to see whether somebody is trapped or otherwise.”
