(THE CHRONICLE) An electrician, who allegedly robbed and raped two females at gunpoint in their residence at Adenta Housing Down in the Greater Accra Region, has been remanded into custody.
Collins Takyi was alleged to have forcibly broken into the room of the complainant’s daughters, and forcibly had sexual intercourse with them in turns, before robbing the household.
Emmanuel Kwasi Aidoo, unemployed, and Darlington Tamakloe, plumber, who are also accomplices to the alleged crime, stood outside to watch out for Collins Takyi, while he had sex with the females. Collins Takyi, after the act, made away with three tins of Nido, a tin of Milo and other assorted drinks.
Emmanuel Kwasi Aidoo exposed Collins Takyi and Darlington Tamakloe to the police after he was arrested, upon a tipoff. Collins Takyi, Emmanuel Kwasi Aidoo and Darlington Tamakloe pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and robbery, when they were arraigned before the court, presided over by Mr. Ebenezer Osei Darko.
Collins Takyi, however, is facing additional charges of rape and defilement, which the Prosecution said was still under investigation.
All the accused persons have been remanded into custody to re-appear before the court on June 2, 2013.
The underlining facts are that on May 17, 2013, while the complainant and the family were asleep, the three accused persons went to the house of the complainant, where Takyi forcibly broke into one of the rooms of the daughters of the complainant.
The prosecutor, DSP Reindorf Agyemang, told the court that Emmanuel Kwasi Aidoo and Darlington Tamakloe were behind the window of the house keeping watch for Collins Takyi.
Collins Takyi, who was armed with a pistol and a knife, attacked the two girls in the presence of their younger brother, and had sex with them in turns.
“The victim peeped through a window and saw the second accused person standing in the compound and shouted for help. The second accused person, sensing danger, took to his heels. The case was reported to the police, and the second accused person arrested,” the Prosecutor told the court.
DSP Agyemang mentioned that in the course of the investigation, Emmanuel Kwasi Aidoo mentioned Collins Takyi as the one who raped the girls, while he and Darlington Tamakloe stood outside to keep watch.
