(Citifmonline)Students of the University of Ghana are opposing the physical development levy added to their school fees.

The levy, according to the school’s administration, is to help complete some abandoned government projects at the school.

But the students claim this is unacceptable as the GHS100 being charged as the levy is a hefty sum.

In an interview with Citi News, the Student Representative Council (SRC) President of the University of Ghana, Eric Edem Agbana, indicated that initially the idea was for students to contribute to the development of the school and not to impose a levy.

“Initially the idea sounded like students were supposed to make a donation of GHS100 but to our surprise, students are being made to pay GHS100 as physical development levy … and as students we are not in agreement,” he said.

He added that although students agree with the idea of contributing to the development of the school, “charging a large sum of GHS100 is something we are not in favour of.”
