In relation what many call irresponsible comments by Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, on Pastor Otabil’s prophecy, a member of the communication team of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Charles Owusu has dared Kwesi Pratt Jnr to subject Muslim leaders to such ‘irresponsible’ statements after their Holy Month of fasting and prayers and see what is likely to happen.

According to him, Mr. Pratt should bow down in shame for trying to link Pastor Otabil’s intercession prayers to a case of ‘High Fever’.

Speaking on Adom FM on Monday, Charles Owusu expressed how shocked he is by Mr. Pratt’s comments.

“It’s surprising how people are castigating Pastor Mensa Otabil for his revelation; it’s so shameful how people are insulting him. So called Senior Journalist,(Kwesi Pratt Jnr) who claims he is untouchable and a veteran in journalism can sit on radio to tell a whole Man of God that his prophecy is due to a high fever? His words are really nauseating…he (Kwesi Pratt) should try this on our Muslim brothers by insulting their leaders…,” he opined.

It must be recalled that Mr. Pratt Jnr was purported to have said that because pastors are human and therefore vulnerable to all ailments that befall mortals, it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between true prophecies by a man of God and when he is suffering from high fever.

According to him, the factthat one may be a renowned pastor does not insulate him for maladies because they are human; bound to fall ill once in a while.

Mr Pratt’s comment followsthe renowned Man of God’s appeal to members of his congregation to pray for Ghana for he has a sense of heaviness in his spirit concerning the destiny of this country; that there is something heavy ready to fall upon this country.

“…if we don’t take charge, we will be in a different state a month from now,”Dr Otabil said.

The ICGC lead then led the congregation to intercede for Ghana, after which he said a fervent word of prayer interlaced with positive declarations over the destiny of the country.

“We make these declarations…there shall be no civil war in Ghana…there will be no military takeover in Ghana…there will be no bloodshed in Ghana…there will be no coup d’état…there will be peace in Ghana…the land shall have peace and rest…there will be prosperity in Ghana… abundance in the name of Jesus,” he stated during the prayer session.

But his statement and subsequent prayer has been misinterpreted in the public domain with some labeling him a “Prophet of Doom” and “Coup Monger”.

The PPP communicator, not enthused with the negative comments and attacks directed at the man of God, sought to find if someone suffering fromhigh fever can lead others to mediate through prayers for others.

“He. Has he seen someone suffering fromhigh fever in church leading a prayer session before? Kwesi Pratt’s remarks are really distasteful…If I were to be a member of the International Central Gospel Church (IGCC), mayhem would have occurred in this country because no one can tarnish the image of my head pastor and go scot free. Pastor Otabil can never be a high fever pastor,” he stated.
