Manchester United are famous for jumping in to bed with just about any company that waves a chequebook at them. And you can sort of understand why, given the amount they spend on players’ transfer fees and salaries. Not to mention the interest payments on those huge debts the Glazers have saddled the club with.
That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t poke fun at them, though, particularly when the Red Devils’ corporate fundraising requires Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie to glug Japanese tomato juice in one of the most hilariously appalling commercials ever committed to video.
We’ll not say too much, so just sit back and enjoy the fun. But make sure you turn your speakers on: the bizarrely amplified sounds of juice glugging down players’ throats is perhaps World of Sport’s single favourite aspect of this lovely slice of Japanese weirdness.
