Melcom Organizes Remembrance Service Victims
The management and workers of Melcom Ghana Limited on Saturday organized a remembrance service for the victims of its collapsed Achimota shop.
The service was held at the site of the disaster.
14 people lost their lives and 68 others were injured when the six-storey shopping center collapsed a week ago.
The management and the workers of Melcom laid wreaths at the site.
Head of the Melcom group, Bagwan Khubchandani said the service was aimed at expressing their pain and sorrow for the persons who perished in the disaster.
“We felt that such a time like this will be a good thing to show our sorrow and grief for the colleagues that we have lost and hoping that these kinds of periods will go a long way to relieve someone’s grief,” he explained.
Mr. Khachaturian expressed the hope that the event will soften their pain “because obviously it can’t take it away.”
Christian, Muslim and Hindu prayers were said for the lost souls and the surviving victims and their families.
