The Queens Glasgow 2014 Baton Relay arrived in Ghana Friday night from Sierra Leone and Shatta Wale is privileged to be part of the 36 prominent personalities that were chosen to carry the baton through some selected areas in Accra today.
Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah handed over the baton to Bandana from Chorkor whiles Bandana waited for him at Korle Gonno.
“For the Queen to select me to hold her Commonwealth baton means she also likes my music and has heard about me”. The Commonwealth Games seeks to promote international understanding and world peace and I am ready to part of this movement, Shatta Wale said.
Information reaching Ghana Music.com is that Shatta Wale will deliver the torch to Ghana’s Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur at an official welcoming ceremony at the Flagstaff House.
Becca and Akosua Agyepong were also part of the baton carriers.
The baton relay is the traditional curtain raiser to the Commonwealth Games and has been an inclusion in the Games program since the Cardiff 1958 Commonwealth Games in Wales.
