Sharia has been applied by Jihadists in the northern province of Mali.This was reported on Thursday by the Islamist who felt it was time the various laws in Islam are applied in our lives.
The group reportedly said they had cut off the hand of a thief in accordance with strict Islamic law which they have imposed on the population.
“Yes, I confirm it. We applied sharia in Ansongo yesterday (Wednesday). The hand of a thief was cut off. Sharia demands it,” a leader of the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa confirmed to AFP. Witnesses in the town confirmed the incident.
The region is rumoured to be hosting various training sessions for Boko Haram troops as well as Al-Quaeda troops.
