Nana Yaw Kumi aka Kumi Guitar who had his first nomination at the Ghana Music Awards in this year’s edition generated lots of confusion pertaining his ‘Discovery of the Year’ nomination. From what OMG!Ghana.com gathered, Kumi Guitar according to the general public and some entertainment gurus is not a new artiste. They alleged that he has worked with artistes like Reggie Zippy, KK Fosu and other musicians which disqualify him to be nominated for the category in question.
Filmmaker Socrate Safo intended to embark on a demonstration against Mark Okreku Mantey, a member of the VGMA board and manager for Kumi Guitar if he doesn’t withdraw his artiste’s name from the ‘Discovery of the year’ category. According to the controversial filmmaker, Kumi released his ‘1 litre’ single in 2012 which debar him from being as a new artiste.
But according to Kumi Guitar, he is a new artiste because his first official single ‘break Into Two’ was released in 2013. ‘1 Litre’ was a song he made for music producer Sugar Tone’s compilation.
The man entangled in this year’s VGMAs nominee’s skepticism, Kumi Guitar has released one shocking secret. In his new song ‘Mmaa Time’, the fast rising highlife artiste disclosed how men deploy varied means of deceiving ladies. In the song, he said it is a piece of advice he is giving out to the dear ladies out there who are eagerly searching for a man.
The VGMA ‘Highlife Song Of the year’ and ‘Discovery Of The year’ nominated artiste said men are full of words to lure ladies to fall for them but at the end, they are in to waste their time.
The song ‘Mmaa Time’ talks about how men waste ladies time in relationship. When asked why he wrote such a song to disgrace men, Kumi Guitar told OMG!Ghana.com that this is a situation which usually happens so he thought of advising ladies on how careful they should be when deciding on whom they should allow into their love-life.
This song has been described by many who have heard as one of the best to be recorded in the year 2014.
