Big Brother Africa, it can only do two things for a person, if it doesn’t make you a star, that is if you WIN, it will destroy you totally, famous people who take part in the reality show, come back home to a see their career dying down rapidly. Many people have dreams of making it big after Big Brother Africa hoping to become an Africa-wide phenomena but none of them except for the winners excel. Nevertheless your 15 minutes of fame will always be granted.
We have seen many participants who face torture from people thanks to their participation in the the reality show, Big Brother Africa. In Ghana nobody has excelled after the reality show, except for Sammy B who seems to be doing okay by doing commercials for telecom giant Glo. We have seen many acts like Kwaku T, who after the show turned rapper for 15days and that was just it, he was never successful and has now moved to South Africa to pursue a radio career. Confidence Haugen, who was a highly-praised CEO went in there and showed her “melons” to the world, came back to insults as to why a grown woman her age will do such a thing on live TV airing Africa-wide. Since she came back, patronage to her Night Club which was the most popular by then has fallen totally. Bomaye came through with his “American slangs” and “dada ba” attitude, similar to Kwaku T, came back and had a TV show which was fingered as immoral and to a lot of scrutiny. Elikem had high hopes of coming back to a banging movie and a fashion career. After several days of hype, it seems it has all died down, he has featured in a few movies though, I’m hoping to see his performance. Eazzy was a pop star before she entered the program, hoping the program will take her music to the whole of Africa. She showed everyone her true character on the show, her infamous relationship with Reggie Rockstone’s brother, Keitta which many fingered as fake (just for TV) couldn’t help the star excel. She came back to a falling music career, her boyfriend left her and she seems to be struggling to turn up a hit song.
Now, Selly, she did the worse in the history of Ghanaian contestants. She had sex in the house which aired on TV. She was evicted days after. As if it’s not enough, she was also accused of infecting the person she bonked with an STD. We didn’t know much about Selly before she went to the show, we only knew she was dating a musician from the Praye group. She came back and had her usual 15minutes of fame, had parties and press conferences. She was an aspiring actress, now all her dreams seems to have shattered after the show. The only movie she featured in hasn’t been released yet.
Which makes us ask the question, Big Brother Africa, does it kill you or make you? Does it kill your dreams of ever becoming a star or makes it a reality? Your opinion is highly needed. You may want to check out more photos of Selly if you care that much.
