A veteran journalist and Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has alleged that Nayele Ametefeh, the lady at the center of the cocaine saga pleaded guilty in the UK court to protect her pay masters and accomplices.

According to him, by pleading guilty that she entered the UK with cocaine weighing about 12 kilograms was a smart move meant to cover up her tracks.
Ruby Adu Gyamfi alias Nayele Ametefeh on Thursday pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against her when she appeared before the Crown Court in London via a video link.

“It is exceedingly interesting that the lady at the centre of this drug bust, Nayele Ametefeh has pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against her,” Pratt said.

He explained that “the effect of what she has done is that we will never get to know the full story in open court. From the point of view of protecting her accomplices, from the point of view of putting a shield around her operations and so on, this may appear to be some kind of a smart move.”

Kwesi Pratt who was speaking on Radio Gold’s news analysis programme on Saturday also added that “she has now effectively ended the investigation.”

He however commended the security agencies in Ghana for investigating the issue when it emerged that Nayele had been arrested at the Heathrow Airport.

“Since this case broke out, it appears the security agencies are working overtime to make sure that any and everybody connected with this drug bust is dealt with according to law. As at yesterday, my information was that a minimum of 19 persons have been arrested,” he added.

Meanwhile, an Accra Circuit Court has remanded two persons alleged to have conspired with Nayele to transport the cocaine into the UK.

They are Sadala Nuhu and Nana Akua Amponsah, both businesswomen.

An African King who governs his kingdom via Skype has had his four gold crowns stolen from his home in Germany.

King Togbe Ngoryifia Céphas Kosi Bansah returned from an evening out to discover that thieves had broken into his home near Frankfurt, and made away with most of his royal regalia, including the crowns and golden chains from his grandparents.

The 66-year-old king of the Hohoe traditional area moved to Germany while on an exchange programme as a student but stayed after falling in love with Gabrielle, who is now his wife.

“Thieves had come over the balcony on the first floor, forced the door open, smashed the cabinets and ransacked everything,” he told The Times.

Although the items were valued around £15,900, the King argues the collection is irreplaceable to his family and country.

King Basah was crowned in 1987 after his grandfather, the reigning king, died.

He was chosen over his elder brother and father because both are left-handed, an attribute that his people believe is unclean and indicative of dishonesty.

Despite living in Germany, where he runs a garage, King Basah still governs the 200,000 Hohoe people through Skype and telephone calls, often staying up late into the night to rule on tribal disputes.

He has become a minor local celebrity, appearing regularly on TV and local events.

He has campaigned on behalf of his country, helping them secure medical aid – in the form of 22 doctors in the areas hospital – and regularly sending over equipment for water purification.

The 2014 Edition of the Channel O Music Video Awards which was held last night in Johannesburg, South Africa saw Diamond and Cassper Nyovest take home the highest number of plaques.

The fear of stroke — when a blood vessel in or leading to the brain bursts or is blocked by a blood clot, starving brain cells of oxygen and nutrients — is well founded. Stroke is the number-three killer in the world, affecting more than 700,000 people each year.

Here are just some of the foods that may cause the type of damage that can lead to a stroke

Red Meat

The journal Stroke recently published a study showing that consuming a large portion of red meat each day led to a 42-percent higher incidence of stroke. You may already know that eating food high in saturated fat isn’t good for you, but you probably didn’t know that it increased your stroke chances by nearly 50%.

Why: Researchers have long known that the saturated fat clogs arteries with a buildup of protein plaques. But in addition, hemoglobin, the ingredient that gives red meat its high iron content, may pose a specific danger when it comes to stroke. Researchers are investigating whether blood becomes thicker and more viscous as a result of the consumption of so-called heme iron, specifically upping the chance of strokes.

Eat right: Aim to substitute more poultry (particularly white meat) and fish, which are low in heme iron, for red meat. Also, choose the heart-healthiest sources of protein whenever you can, particularly beans, legumes, nuts, tofu, and nonfat dairy.

TV and radio personality, Valentina Nana Agyiewaa popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger has sent out a stern warning to Ghanaians who have planned to come across her way this Christmas.  The angry Happy FM presenter in an interview with Master Richard on Adinkra FM, an Accra-based radio station said she is ready to stand anyone who insults her.

Afia Schwarzenegger, the host of Kokoko show on UTV amidst several vulgar words made scores of allegations against The Founder of the International Gods Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim. She disclosed that her husband Yaw Boakye who also doubles as a pastor will not put up the behavior Obinim is exhibiting as a man of God.

“…I have my husband’s picture on my instagram. If you have sever seen him before, he is a giant. My husband is a pastor. Have you ever heard anywhere that someone has slept with my husband? Is Obinim telling me that he is handsome than my husband Yaw Boakye?” Afia queried.

Spokesperson for the Hare Krishna Movement of Ghana has fired a salvo at Bishop Daniel Obinim for threatening former President Jerry Rawlings and popular television presenter, Afia Schwarzenegger.

Giana Chachus Das did not mince words describing the founder of the International Gods Way Church as a “sorcerer not a pastor”.

Bishop Obinim has incurred the wrath of many after he threatened to deal with the two [Rawlings and Afia] for criticizing his ministry.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the Bishop while addressing his congregation said he would deal with Afia Schwarzenegger mercilessly in her dream.

“You sit on radio and TV and talk nonsense; I will be visiting you in your dream and deal with you ruthlessly.” Bishop Obinim cautioned those who do not understand spiritual matters not to judge or criticize pastors they perceive to be fake.

But in an interview with Adom News, Chachus Das said the recent comments by Obinim proves he is fake. In his view, the move by the ‘Man of God’ is devilish hence must be condemned by Christians in the country.

“No pastor can appear in dreams unless he is a magician, sorcerer or practice witchcraft. The Bible even says vengeance is the Lord’s so why didn’t Obinim leave the matter to God and concentrate on his ministry,” he quizzed.

Chachus Das said Obinim is among those fake pastors who have brought the name of God and Christianity into disrepute. On the contrary, renowned preacher, Rev. Gabriel Ansah believes Obinim might have said that just to put fear in those criticizing his ministry.

“It’s impossible for any mortal human being to appear in dreams; even angels need God’s permission before they can appear in dreams.”

Rev. Gabriel Ansah indicated that the comment by Bishop Obinim is unbiblical because pastors don’t control the human spirit.

The Ghana Police Service is pleading with Ghanaians “not to corrupt them” by offering them bribes.

According to the Director of Public Affairs, DCOP David Ampabeni, the service is committed to ridding its ranks of corruption.

“We won’t allow ourselves to be corrupted again. We won’t take bribes again. We are also appealing to the general public not to corrupt us. People are eager to give us things for our pockets. They shouldn’t corrupt us because we have seen people talking about us, we want to tell the people that we are ready to lead a clean life,” Ampabeni told the media after a nationwide tour by the Inspector General of Police to promote good policing among personal of the service.”

He said the Police is taking drastic measures to repair its dented image in the eyes of the public.

“We are ready to remove any tarnished image that we have acquired. We want to see a new Ghana Police Service which is corrupt-free and ready to serve mother Ghana.”

The Ghana Police Service has often come tops as the most corrupt institution in the public sector.
