6 Quotes From Nana Akuffo-Addo’s Lecture That Will Make President Mahama Cry

$

Aliu Mahama served as a vice president of Ghana for eight years in Mr. J.A. Kufuor’s government.

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was the guest speaker at the 2nd Aliu Memorial Lectures on Tuesday December 9, 2014.

Speaking on the theme; “One Ghana, Securing the Future,”  here are 6 of his quotes directed at President Mahama.

1. Good to bad economic managers

“In 2009, the NDC was handed the best economy inherited by any new government since the 1960s, with oil coming in and a debt-to-GDP ratio of just 29%.

“In the last few months to the 2012 election, we all saw the reckless spending the NDC government undertook in a desperate move to hold on to power. The budget deficit alone for that year was the same as the entire national budget for 2008. Today, we are all suffering the consequences of those irresponsible actions.”

2. President of Promises

“At the 2012 presidential debate, the President said he already had programmes in place to make load shedding a thing of the past by the end of 2013. Recently on Paul Adom Otchere’s “Good Evening Ghana” on Metro TV, the President gave us a new promise. What is this new promise? He is promising to stop giving us promises. Well, well, well.”

Ladies: 12 Ways To Know That You Are A Side Chick

$

Of course, men are sex-crazed and usually have at least one side dish (side chick) for rainy days, when all traps fail. Being a guy is not a joke and same as being a girl.

Nowadays, some men act so smart when it comes to relationships, they have what they call “main chicks” and what they call “side chicks”, YES! the names mean just as it sounds. Ladies usually prefer the first title but those titles are not determined by ladies, but rather the men. Your position in a man’s life depends on how he sees you and as a woman, it may be hard to actually figure out what position you fill in a man’s life.

But there are signs which will clearly tell you your position in a man’s life. Don’t be fooled for too long. This is coming from a guy :)

1. You never hear words like “I Love You” from him

http://ionetheurbandaily.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/martin-side-chick-meme.jpg

Side chicks never get the love, you will never hear sweet words like “I Love You” from him as men fear this will lead you on into thinking that you are loved. You will most probably hear these words only when you are getting “jiggy”.

This year which will soon say goodbye to the world for 2015 to take over has witnessed lots of events happening in the entertainment industry.

Aside court issues which happened between some of our entertainers in this country, others persistently decided not to change from their bad behaviour.

To these people, OMG!Ghana.com shall term ‘stubborn’ for the want of better words in relation to this publication. These people were of the view that they were fighting for their rights. This mindset did not make them listen to advise given them by the general public until they pushed further to either succeed or fail with their plan.

The attitude of these people cannot be termed as bad because they all helped to make the entertainment industry stand on its toes since less attention was given to it in previous years. In times where everybody was talking about politics, we needed something to entertain Ghanaians and with the help of these ‘stubborn’ celebrities, they made the dream of Ghanaians become realities.

Get fruit juice and a biscuit as OMG!Ghana.com takes you through a list of some of the ‘stubborn’ Ghanaian celebrities we spotted in the year 2014

We know for sure what renowned juju man, Kwaku Bonsam is doing, he is taking advantage of Obinim’s ignorance to advertise himself.

Of course he knows the Bible. In the video below, he quotes some Bible quotations and pities all those women who sleep at churches looking for spiritual help – bottom line is, he is trying to say he is better than these fake men of God who actually come to him for spiritual healing and guidance, at least he is being honest unlike the pastors who hide behind the name of God.

NPP Tried To Kill Me In 2008 – Says J.J. Rawlings

$
0
0

The former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has alleged that a serving officer in the Ghana Army was contracted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to assassinate him in the run up to the 2008 elections.

The current head of Human Security Department of the National Security Office, Brig. General Nunoo-Mensah and the Navy commander at the time (who he did not name) were also set for the hit allegedly engineered by elements within the government of the time.

The unnamed soldier, Rawlings claimed, was arrested by some officers of the army who knew of and disagreed with the intention.

“A soldier was given a gun for him to kill me, General Nunoo Mensah and a Navy commander during the 2008 campaign time but the soldier who had been given the weapon to undertake such a heinous crime was arrested by his fellow soldiers …,” he told mourners at the funeral of the late Kwawumanhene in the Eastern Region.

The late Daasebre Akuamoah-Boateng passed away in 2013 and the royal farewell ceremonies began last Monday.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony as an invited mourner, Rawlings said the unnamed soldier was placed in a guard room at the barracks upon his arrest with the intention of investigating his case after the 2008 elections.

However, the late President, John Mills did not investigate the case because of his [Mills’] principle that he did not want to go after anyone for the sake of peace.

jj rawlings

“…But I ask, if you will not investigate anything at all, what about an assassination attempt on my life..,? he asked rhetorically.

Obviously not happy with the decision of the late Prof. Mills, Mr. Rawlings said, he is anxiously waiting on the current President, John Mahama to cause investigation into the attempted assassination on his life.

“And now that our brother from Tamale is on the seat, I am anxiously waiting to see if he would investigate the case…I am waiting, I repeat, I am waiting…,” he said repeatedly.

The alleged assassination attempt on his life and two others is not the only case Rawlings wants investigated; the death of the overlord of Dagbon, Yana Abudu Andani is also a priority.

According to the former military leader, two of the known killers of the paramount chief upon their arrest faked madness and hence were freed from jail.

He thus implored the people of Tamale to put pressure on ‘our own brother from Tamale’ to cause investigations into why his ‘own chief was killed in cold blood’.

“Without justice, our determination to enjoy freedom and practice democracy would be in vain…we see the importance of the preservation of human lives,” he said.

Commander One, DCOP Kofi Boakye Speaks About Kwaw Kese’s Case – Says The #FreeKwawKese Movement Makes Him Laugh

From what we know, Kumasi has become a city of zero tolerance to unlawful behavior, unlike other parts of the country where you can do anything you want once you are popular or have some level of power, all thanks to one man, DCOP Kofi Boakye popularly known as Commander One.

Joy News journalists visited Commander One to discuss other matters including the never-ending story of Kwaw Kese’s arrest which has caused some social media talk. When he was asked about Kwaw Kese’s case and why they are treating him that way, he said and we quote.

It’s not as simple a matter of just using drugs, but the act of lawlessness. How can you go and sit in front of a pub and start smoking? Even in countries where smoking is legal, you can’t smoke in public.

How can you expect me to compromise on the law? My work is to present the facts as I see it to the judiciary. Why should people say they are going to form a free Kwaw Kese group? That is a grievous movement. Why him and not the others?

The arrest was not personal or malice inspired. Kwaw kese’s case is not merely smoking. It is an act of impunity. That is what we must understand, because we are all governed by law.

It’s obvious the Kumasi police are not playing with this case like it seem.

Kwaw Kese Smoked “Wee” Next To A Police Barrier – Police

Kwaw Kese, born Emmanuel Botchwey, was arrested by the police in Kumasi on Saturday, November 22, for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.

The District Commander of the Ashanti Region police force, DCOP Kofi Boakye said this morning on Joy News, why Kwaw Kese is being treated the way he is being treated;

Nobody went to Kwaw Kese’s room to smell his mouth and search him to arrest him. He was smoking openly 20 metres from a police barrier and if the police have not arrested him, what do you think would happen to the confidence and trust that the people have for the police,” he questioned.

He further quizzed that, “what do you think will happen to other people who have been arrested based on something that is not up to this level?

The Ashanti Regional Commander explained that Kwaw Kese’s case is an offense of drug use and one must also look at the act of impunity. It is not what you do but how you do it in the world, it is not where you are but who you are. It’s not a matter as simple as using drug but it is the act of impunity, the act of carelessness and the act of lawlessness.

How can you go out to a pub, in front of the pub and sit down and start smoking? Even in Holland and Washington where it is legalized, you dare not smoke outside; you have to go to the coffee shop. Even where it is legalized, even public smoking of cigarette is prohibited how much more Ghana?

He further stressed on that

what we must all detest” and “prevent” because as a country that is governed by laws, “without law and order there cannot be economic development.

He revealed that there have been several calls by individuals on the police to temper justice with mercy.

The Commander quizzed

How can you compromise on the law? The law is not like selling tomatoes where you can bargain.

My work is to present the facts as I see it to the judiciary and I will only do so when I realize that there is a prima facie case established. We are not adjudicating officers so when we send it to court, the court in its own wisdom will decide.

Since the arrest of rapper, popularly known as ‘Abodam’, several celebrities including Samini, Shatta Wale, Yaa Pono, Kofi Kinaata, Dee Moneey and Wanlov have taken to social media networks to support a campaign – #FreeKwawKese – with the hope of getting him released. Commenting on the campaign, DCOP Kofi Boakye observed,

One mistake people are doing is that why should people say that they are going to form ‘Free Kwaw Kese’ group? Is he a political prisoner? That was a grievous mistake and it will not inure to the benefit of the accused. Why him but not the others; is it because he is a musician?

This he said amounts to discrimination to the enforcement of the law but the police, he stressed, will not be discriminatory in their line of duty.

He, therefore, called on members to make the party “stronger” and “more formidable” ahead of the 2016 elections.

President Mahama urged delegates to ignore claims by any of the candidates that “he/she is my choice or my preferred person, because there is none.”

The leader of the ruling party expressed commitment to work with the executives to be elected.

“Vote for whoever you believe has the capacity and ability to help grow our great party and work with the millions of supporters across the country.
