The Ghana Medical Association has been snubbed by some of it’s members who have returned to work after the association indicated yesterday that the strike was still in full force.
The Minister for Health, Alex Segbefia had earlier this week given the striking Doctors a 48-hour ultimatum to return to work or be considered as having broken the law since their strike is illegal.
According to Joy News’ Matilda Wemegah, who toured a number of hospitals in Accra, about 20 medical doctors had returned to work and were taking care of patients.
This new development comes after the Ghana Medical Association issued a statement yesterday that their strike was in full force in spite of the ultimatum given by the health Minister.
The GMA said its members were resolute in their stance that unless government gave them negotiated and documented conditions of service, they would remain on strike.
It’s however unclear if the resumption to duty by the Doctors has anything to do with the ultimatum given by the Minister.
