TED stands for technology, entertainment, and design which were the three topics the conference began with, however, today they cover a broad number of topics in multiple countries.

The talks are dedicated to the exchange and spread of ideas with the aim of creating a better world for us all. Kenyans have joined in the conversation, sharing ideas and experiences hoping to inspire others to think outside the box, to be and do better and therefore build a better nation.


1. Conversation with baba by Binyavanga Wainaina.

A cathartic conversation targeted towards closure, diversity and the way forward for Kenya and Africa as a whole.

 

2. Asking WHY? by Jepchumba.

A presentation on self-realization, a search for knowledge and critical social thought.

 

3. No more labels by Wanuri Kahiu.

A discussion on identity, defining it for oneself, defining it in storytelling, and defining it in our immediate society.

 

4. My journey to start a school for girls in Kenya by Kakenya Ntaiya.

Ntaiya narrates her journey from being an FGM survivor to an educator who changed the course of her hometown.

 

5. Living a full life in Nairobi by Raphael Obonyo.

Obonyo uses his knowledge in policy making, infrastructure, and human rights to propose a way to urbanize Kenya with minimized negative results.

 

6. How I became and activist by Ory Okolloh

Ory Okolloh explains her life and how it lead to her heroic activism work.

 

7. My invention that made peace with lions by Richard Turere

Watch then 13-year-old walk the audience through his inspiration for his simple but genius invention.
