In 1964 Wilson Kiprugut won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics kicking off Kenya’s champions reputation.
And recently, Kenya won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Amsterdam Marathon and placed first to eighth in the final rankings. The world has come to know us as the home of champions (with an epic anthem).
Navalayo Osembo-Ombati, inspired by Kenya’s winning athletic streak collaborated with Weldon Kennedy to create a footwear company called Enda.

The company founders want Enda to be a social business venture that Kenya can benefit from. The vision for the company is to have the shoes made locally from start to finish, to bring sustainable jobs to our country.

The footwear company worked with design studio Birdhaus and information from a group of runners to create Enda Iten, their first pair of running shoes.

The shoes are designed to be lightweight, with a wider front for additional comfort and a sculpted midsole that wraps part of the rear foot for a secure fit. The shoes have ‘Harambee’ printed on the bottom and come in red, black and green a nod to our flag.

Osembo-Ombati has been on the hunt for investment, and lead a successful online funding campaign and pitched on the Lion’s Den, all in an effort to ensure everyone can get themselves a pair of Enda Iten.
