Hilife artiste Kwaisey Pee is calling on his fellows to boycott the annual Ghana Music Awards if Charterhouse, organisers of the show continue their lawsuit against dancehall artiste Shatta Wale. The musician who thinks the event organisation took the matter to the extreme by suing Shatta Wale said, the “Dancehall King” hitmaker was fighting a good fight so Ghanaian musicians should rally behind him and boycott the awards ceremony to show their support.

“I feel that all Ghanaian musicians should rally behind our own and boycott next year’s Ghana Music Awards if Charter House continues with their suit against Shatta Wale. I feel Shatta Wale was fighting a good cause for artists because Charter House has cheated artists for far too long.

I know Shatta Wale could have done it in a different way than the way he chose to voice his opinions. And although Charter House have their rights to take the case to court, I think they went too far. This is not the first time that somebody has been insulted in Ghana. Past presidents of Ghana and even the current president have been insulted several times in the media.”

Ghana is likely to become one of the most efficient power producer in Africa by 2020, President John Mahama has assured.

Speaking at the ongoing Global African Investment Summit in London,UK, President Mahama said he is optimistic Ghana will have the most efficient power sector in Africa after the Millennium Challenge Compact II (MCC) on power is rolled out.

The millennium challenge compact II is expected to take off by 2015 and the five year program will concentrate on the county’s power sector.

President Mahama who attributed the ongoing erratic power supply in the country to the growing economy said the private sector must get more involved in developing the sector.

“The growing economy is the cause of our blackouts, there are many innovative ways we can deal with this. We are likely to become one of the most efficient power producers in Africa after the Millennium Compact 2. We need to get the private sector in the sector.”

The Global African Investment Summit is a platform that brings together heads of states, chief executive officers of some of the world’s biggest companies, public and private sectors to discuss specific transactions, access to finance and bankable projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

African heads of states including Prez Mahama of Ghana, Paul Kigame of Rwanda, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Mizengo Pinda of Tanzania, finance ministers, CEOs of state owned enterprises among others are in attendance to address and hear from global financial markets, project implementers, consultants and law firms about co-financing and executing the most pressing projects in agri -business, natural resources, power, transport and infrastructure.

The dancehall music genre in Ghana has risen to a standard that if care is not taken, some artistes will be forgotten forever. Kaakie went on break and is back releasing tracks to stay relevant. She came in telling the world that she is the dancehall Ronaldo and now Kaakie is out with “The Roof Is On Fire”, a tune produced by JMJ.

JAMAICAOBSERVER — AT the October 4 Martin’s International Reggae and World Music Awards in Miami, African singjay Shatta Wale won the Best New Entertainer category.

The Ghanaian artiste, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, is known in his homeland for songs such as Dancehall King, Enter The Net and Like My Ting. He told the Jamaica Observer that he has been making his own brand of dancehall music since the 1990s when he was known as Doggy.

“My Dad was my motivation, playing songs like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Shabba Ranks and Buju Banton,” he said.

A studio engineer by profession, Shatta Wale records most of his songs at his home studio in Ghana. He also works with other African artistes and recently collaborated with Jamaican singjay Jah Vinci on the single “Party All Night.”

The 34-year-old artiste does not want his Jamaican link to stop there. He would love to work with Bounty Killer, Mavado, Beenie Man and Sizzla.

“I collaborating with them would be a perfect musical marriage,” he said.

Shatta Wale points to lack of unity among African artistes as one of his greatest challenges.

“I have therefore formed a group called Dancehall Artistes Welfare Association which is going on well in Ghana. Most of us dancehall/reggae musicians in Ghana live in serious poverty but many can’t speak up because of how our industry is,” he said.

METRO — A university student has watched his dreams of becoming a solicitor go up in flames after being jailed for slapping a sleeping woman in the face with his penis.

John Luke Dale, who studies criminology at Nottingham Trent, was filmed on a mobile phone by a friend stripping to his boxers before shoving his penis in the face of a young woman after she fell asleep at a house party last year.

And the 21-year-old, from Milton Keynes, was jailed for nine months at the Nottingham Crown Court in September after admitting to sexual assault, with three top judges rejecting an appeal yesterday.

‘One can see in stark form the distress caused to the victim of this offence and the continuing nature of it. The sentence which the judge imposed cannot possibly be wrong in principle,’ said Judge Alistair McCreath, sitting with Lord Justice McCombe and Mr Justice Spencer at the Court of Appeal.

Although the incident took place last year, it did not come to light until the friend who had filmed it showed it to workmates, who called police.

In a statement by the victim, the young woman said she felt ‘violated’ and that the existence of the video ‘petrified’ her.

Trevor Burke QC, defending, acknowledged that the act was ‘extremely unpleasant’ but argued that it was not driven by sexual gratification and that the loss of Mr Dale’s studies and future career in law was sufficient punishment.

Tan Shen, 26, said that she was walking around depressed after being dropped by her lover and went into a branch of the fast food outlet in a train station in Chengdu, China.

She said:

‘I hadn’t planned on staying there long, I just wanted some chicken wings, but once I got in there and started eating I decided I needed time to think.

I didn’t want to go back to my apartment because it was full of memories of him. So I stayed.’

Staff eventually realised after three days that she had not left the store and she told them that she just needed time to think while ordering another box of chicken wings and extra large fries.

They let her stay there but then when local media started to arrive to question her, she decided to leave the city and move in with her parents.

Waitress Jiang Li Lung said: ‘I guess we kind of miss her. It certainly made work more interesting.’

A fraudster claimed he was a quadriplegic and faked being in a vegetative state for two years. Alan Knight, 47, of Swansea, conned his elderly neighbour out of £40,000 and claimed he was unable to move from the neck down in a bid to avoid being punished for the crime.

He was caught out when doctors watching his hospital room spotted him eating, wiping his face and even writing.

As we reported earlier that private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw was planning to sue musician A-Plus for GHc 1M, a copy of a writ was found on Facebook and going viral on social media networks baring the name of both the plaintiff and defendant, Maurice K. Ampaw and Kwame Asare Obeng.

The lawyer is suing A-Plus for a Facebook post published on his wall on October 10 this year. According to the lawyer, the words used by the musician cum comedian have gone against him hence, demanding such an amount.

A-Plus on Radio Univers in Accra stated that Maurice Ampaw is not a lawyer and he is ever ready to meet him in court to solve the case.

On the writ found on social media network, A-Plus says he has officially not received any letter from the courts so he is patiently waiting to be served with it.

2014 Music of Black Origin(MOBO) Awards was held on Wednesday evening at the SEE Arena in Wembley Wednesday. Fuse was held up in traffic so his manager picked the award when his name was mentioned as the winner.

Derrick Kobina Bonney aka DKB who represented Ghana at Big Brother Stargame says the public should stop complaining about the naked scenes that leak from Big Brother Africa house and consider the exposure it gives to the contestants. Speaking to Abrantepa on Radio Univers in Accra, the comedian who was disqualified from the reality show in 2012 for slapping Zainab said rules and regulations governing the show are clearly read for all the contestants before the show begins. He said the housemates are aware that there are 128 cameras in the house which record everything they do in the house.

“People who are always complaining about the nakedness will stop complaining if they get the opportunity to enter the house. The main focus of the show is about you and your personality not the naked scenes. It is just the viewers who are leaking the videos because they have the VIP access.”

Sharing his experience, DKB narrated;

“I used to be a critique of Big Brother because of these same reasons until I had the opportunity to go. When I got the opportunity, then I totally forgot about the fact that there is nakedness in the house and concentrated on how to promote my brand.

He added that Big Brother Africa fault-finders will find reasons to defend their immoral acts when they get the opportunity to be in the house.

“The focus of Big Brother is not to focus on nudity but it is the viewers who are leaking it. Lets provide those calling Big brother names the opportunity and they will see the marketing and commercial aspects of the show and forget about these whole nudity chapter. They will even find something to tell us if they are caught in the act.”
