Michael Essien: The Milan Doctor Called And Said I Have Ebola

$

Michael Essien turned 32 yesterday and he spoke about his most memorable event this year and it was the Ebola hoax story. Read below as he say it all about what happened.

Well, my most memorable thing wasn’t the most pleasant. The whole Ebola hoax …

Yes, two months ago you were a victim of a Twitter hoax which said that you had Ebola. Tell me your version of events

It was a Sunday. I trained as usual that morning and went home in the afternoon to relax and chill out. Then I got a call from our club doctor who told me there was news out that I had Ebola. I said: “How can I have Ebola? You saw me this morning at training so what do you mean I have Ebola?”

Within minutes, my media team had sent me Twitter messages of the hoax and websites on which it was trending. We joked about it and put it to bed. But within 45 to 60 minutes, it was all over the news and I was getting messages from friends, family and ordinary people asking how I was.

I was even getting get well soon messages and that’s when it dawned on me that I had to do something to stop it getting out of hand. So, together with Milan and our media team, we released a statement clearly stating it was a hoax and there was no truth in the rumour that I had Ebola. And that’s when the whole thing started to die down. Still, it took about two days or so for people to actually stop talking about it.

Did you at any stage in those two days panic about the whole thing?

No. I won’t say I panicked or stressed but it was not an enjoyable experience. My family was worried about me in London and Ghana to the extent that my mum rang me to double check that I was fine the next day. I don’t enjoy my mum being stressed so that part was not a good experience and it wasn’t fair on the true sufferers of Ebola and their families. It’s not a joke and people need to understand that.

What do you make of the power of social media in all this?

It’s unbelievably powerful in promoting good activities and messages but the downside is that it can promote bad activities and messages and that’s the danger of it all. When all the rumours were spreading so fast I felt I needed to act to curb it by sending strong messages via social media. Within weeks of the Ebola hoax dying down, the guys at Health Africa International approached my friends George Weah, Mahamadou Diarra and I to be part of the initiative in using various forms of communication to promote an Ebola prevention education programme. I think using social media in a good way is the best thing to do hence my participation.

Is that why you have become so focused on Ebola education?

Yes. I know there are lots of good medical and material efforts going on to help the real sufferers of Ebola. I heard on the news that over 7,000 people have now died but prevention is better than cure and that is where the #UnitedAgstEbola campaign comes in. It is a fund-raising campaign where the money will be used to educate West Africa about the prevention of Ebola and debunking the myths around the disease.

George, Mahamadou and I have been asking all our footy friends to say a few words about the whole Ebola situation to support this campaign. These messages should be shared via all social media channels so people can watch, do their own videos and donate.

So if this social media hoax had not happened, would you have done anything to help Ebola sufferers?

Actually, my team and I were discussing the disease and how we could help with efforts when this whole fiasco happened. All this hoax achieved was to speed up my collaboration with Health Africa International and others to use all the money raised from this project to undertake prevention and educational programs across West Africa.

I know how it is to be a victim of ignorance. It is crucial that we hammer home the prevention message. From my experience, the best places to do this will be at schools, churches, community groups and compound houses. There is no internet to empower most of these people so we need to act fast. In terms of transparency, Ernst & Young Ghana will use the funds to implement the programmes independently and all records will be public. So I urge everyone to record a video and tag #UnitedAgstEbola and donate at www.healthafricainternational.com

Let’s talk about football and your former club Chelsea. They are in superb shape. How similar is this team to the 2004-5 side you played in?

It’s too early to say they are racing to the Premier League but they have put themselves in a good position. I am sure they know nothing is won in December so they will keep going till the end. It’s a totally different team [to our team] as we were a destructive team. We had some flair players but not as many as the current team, and what we did well was destroy teams and made sure you never had a sniff of a chance. This team will get there at some point but they are a delight to watch and I am sure Chelsea fans are loving their play.

So will José Mourinho be the champion of England again in May?

Difficult to say because it’s too early in the season. But I will not put it past him and I have no doubt with his abilities and the team’s desire they will undoubtedly be there in the end. Rest assured.

Avram Grant is the new coach of the Ghana national team. Having worked with him before, what kind of coach was he?

First and foremost he is a good man and one of the funniest you will ever meet. We have remained friends to this day and I speak to him once in a while. He is a good coach and I am sure he will bring all his experiences to the Ghana job. It’s not going to be easy, but I have no doubt he will give it 100%.

With a new coach there is always a chance of coming back to the Ghana team, especially as you are getting more playing time with Milan. Are you looking forward to a call-up from Grant?

I don’t know about comebacks or anything of that sort. As I have said in the recent past we will see. There is no guarantee that he will even call me up anyway so it’s a bit of a hypothetical question and if he does we will see.

Increase Your Penis Size For ¢300, Get ¢100,000 With ¢700 – Juju Men Invade Accra

Quick-fix miracle workers and self-styled mallams have invaded the national capital and are now openly advertising their spiritual prowess on posters along major roads, at markets and transport terminals, a The General Telegraph survey has revealed.

The Tudu, New Tema station, Kinbu and the Vanef-STC terminals have been plastered with posters of the miracle workers, each one of whom is laying claims to the ability to solve physical, financial, emotional and spiritual problems.

Some of them are colourful posters with photographs of the Mallam. One poster has in addition, photos of bundles of currencies in different denominations signifying their ability to make their patrons enormously rich.

The posters also have mystical figures like ‘Mammy Water’ and dwarfs on them and according to the information on the posters these are mediums through which they draw their spiritual powers.

Also on the posters are telephone numbers of the self- proclaimed “spiritual masters.” One of these gave Tuba near Kasoa in the Central Region as his specific location. One of the spiritualists, Mallam Bamba, who describes himself as “‘Spiritual Investigator,” provides some background information about himself and includes his consulting days which begin on Monday through Thursday and excludes the weekends of Friday through Sunday.

According to the poster of “The Jakpha Shrine” whose location was not disclosed, the spiritualist prepares “love charms”, “blood money”, “antidotes against family curses”, “solutions to marriage problems”, among many other claims.

mallam

Malam Bamba, who also claims he can heal all kinds of “spiritual diseases” has also advertised an exclusive service to make a man’s penis longer and stronger.

Malam Mei Zafi, for his part, claims he can use his spiritual powers to help anyone to get a visa to travel outside the country.

Hajia Herbal Home located in the Kwashieman suburb of Accra makes similar claims including the ability to prepare potions for extra sexual power and charms to turn a faltering marriage or an estranged union around. Additionally, the claim is made by Hajia Herbal Home that it can provide a ring which when worn, protects the wearer from jealous persons, a claim that God’s Time Herbal and Healing Home also makes.

When The General Telegraph called some of these Malams to find out their modus operandi and cost, the spiritual consultant at Jakpha Shrine who would not disclose his name, gave broad hints of his spiritual prowess when asked to explain what he meant by “blood money.”

The consultant who spoke fairly good English told us that the ritual makes the client rich within three days.

“You will bring GHC 700.00 which will be used to buy materials and ingredients for the ritual and I can guarantee that it works. Within three days you will get GHc 1 billion but it can also happen within a day or two depending on how clean your spirit is. I don’t charge for this ritual but I expect that as soon as you receive the money, you will come and say ‘thank you’ to me,” he explained.

The General Telegraph next called Malam Bamba, the “Spiritual Investigator” said he specializes in the enlargement of ‘manhood’ among other mystical feats. He said the enlargement process begins with the payment of GHc 300.00. He swore by all that he believes, that within seven days the client’s manhood will grow bigger.

“It’s a cream that you will rub onto your manhood for seven days. During that period it expands in girth and length. As soon as you reach your desired size, you should stop applying the cream.” He then gave directions for the location of his operation base.

Hajia Herbal Home was next. When The General Telegraph called, the lady spoke to us through her spokesman who assured us that, actually, she could accomplish far more than was advertised. She would, however, not give us any specific amount to be paid as consultation fee when we tried to find out how much it would cost to ward off spiritual attacks coming from one’s relatives and other sources.

“You are a man; when you are stepping out of your house you always put some money in your wallet. Do the same thing and bring something small so we can clear your problem” was the answer The General Telegraph received, along with directions to locate Hajia’s shrine.

It’s Saturday morning, and if you grew up in the 90’s in Ghana, that means you have Saturday morning classes aka. studies, or simply ‘classes‘ at your school.

This usually happened between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. If you dare miss your ‘studies’, you will be lashed on Monday morning at assembly and be forced to pay the fees on top of that.

Unless you grew up in the 90s in Ghana, you have no clue what I am talking about!

This was how it worked, before you head out for your Saturday classes, you made sure you enjoyed your favorite cartoons while doing justice to your breakfast (milo drink or hot koko)!

For the daddy bees, it was the Cartoon Network channel on DSTV. For the rest of us, we couldn’t afford to miss the cartoon hour on GTV because that was the only channel on our TV, so missing means waiting a whole week just to see your favorite cartoon show. Ah those days!

12 Awkward Sex Moments Everyone Experiences But Scared To Admit

$
0
0

Sex is a wonderful, glorious, magnificent thing.

Sex is an essential part of any intimate relationship. It is arguably one of the best things there is in the whole world. Who doesn’t love a good romp between the sheets before bed, or right before you start your day?

There’s nothing like having a great orgasm and then falling listlessly into the arms of your significant other — or, you know, whomever is next to you.

Everyone is doing it, right? If you’re not doing it, there is something wrong with you, right? Everyone is having amazing, earth-shattering sex, right? Your sex life is better than everyone else’s, RIGHT?!

As long as it’s not in the shower, sex is a thing we hold dear to our hearts and our respective private bits. It’s a thing we brag about when we’re getting it a lot, and a thing we endlessly complain about when we’re not. Our minds are on sex. Sex.

With that being said, sex is also kind of weird. I mean, think about it. I mean really think about it.

It can actually be really f*cking weird. We get naked with someone, we roll around for a while, sloppily making out and rubbing all up on each other and then we get off and it’s over.

I’m not saying sex is bad. It’s not bad; it’s f*cking great… but man, it can have some strange parts, regardless of your (likely overinflated, sorry) prowess.

That’s the stuff we never talk about — the weird stuff. It’s the strange and sometimes insanely awkward things that happen pre-, during and post- coitus that we all choose to ignore and it’s the hot, lusty awesome parts that we decide to focus on.

No one wants to go to lunch with the work-wife and lead the weekend recap with “It kept falling out” instead of “I got off three times.”

No one wants to admit that some sh*t was not working the way it was “supposed” to or that your lovemaking had some (natural) malfunction somewhere between cowgirl and missionary.

It’s like we think it’s some kind of reflection of our character if our sex lives don’t directly reflect those on the Hollywood big screen. If we’re not having EXPLOSIVE, firework-inducing sex EVERY SINGLE TIME… we suck at life.

BAH! BAH, I say! Enough with the guilt because there are just awkward situations that cannot be avoided. And guess what, Casanova? We have all been there. Admit it to your therapist; admit it to your teddy bear, whatever. Just embrace the weird.

Here are 12 awkward sex situations we’ve all found ourselves in:

Young couple relaxing in bed

The awkwardness that is undressing

When you have the hot and heavy makeout going on and you’re all over each other, the next step can be a little tricky.

Getting your pants off while your legs are wrapped around your boyfriend can be a process and we all just ignore it because… who wants to acknowledge that?

Or when you just can’t get that belt unhooked while simultaneously kissing your boyfriend’s neck? Momentary as it may be, that sh*t is uncomfortable.

Kennedy Agyapong Again – Says NDC Government Has Promised The Cocaine Lady $3M To Keep Quiet

Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong claims the lady who was busted at the Heathrow Airport, London with some 12.5k of cocaine in her luggage, Nayele Ametefe has not mentioned names of those involved because of some assurances made to her by the ruling NDC government.

He alleges that government is willing to pay $3 million dollars to the family of Ruby Adu Gyamfi aka Nayele Ametefe to buy her silence over the personalities involved in the saga.

His allegation was borne out of the report from Al-Hajj newspaper that the British intelligence services including both the MI5 and MI6 have directed their investigative radar on Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, over what sources said is his involvement in the recent illicit drug case of Nayele Ametefe.

The publication also claimed Ken Agyapong has children with two of Nayele Ametefe’s friends.

But reacting to the allegation on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Hon. Ken Agyapong stated that the NDC government rather stinks in the Nayele cocaine saga as they have made moves to buy her silence from exposing her accomplices in the drug trade.

kennedy_agyapong

He wondered the kind of authority the person who ordered the officers at the VVIP lounge had to give instructions that the lady be assisted to pass through without any form of support from someone influential in government.

He was of the firm belief that the arrested persons at the VVIP lounge are a sort of camouflage for the real actors in the drug trade resulting in government’s desperate attempts at cover up.

“This government has promised the lady to keep quiet and not mention names of people involved in exchange for $3 million dollars; if they don’t give the money to the girl’s family, she will make an attempt to expose them. So Alhaji Bature should write this story…..I won’t stop saying this today or tomorrow and so if the British Intelligence is closing on me, they should arrest me when I come to UK…..NDC stinks in the Nayele cocaine saga and they can never expunge themselves from this case”, he stated.

He therefore called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs to start investigations in the number of diplomatic passports that have been issued out if they are willing to redeem the image of the country as a “drug nation”.

Castro

Ghanaian hiplife star Castro until today has been on the minds of many Ghanaians. The question being asked since 6 July 2014 when he went missing is “Where Is Castro”. Castro headlined most newspapers, TV, radio and online publications after he went missing with a lady friend believed to be Janet Bandu. Pastors, Mallams and heads of other religious bodies came in but nothing was done to find him. Different narrations were given as to how he got missing but none has helped in finding Castro. We still pray he comes back home from wherever he is because according to the law, he can only be pronounced dead after seven years.

It has come out open that Ghana’s unofficial celebrity gossip, Afia Schwarzenegger lied about actress Beverly Afaglo when she announced that the actress had quit acting.

According to reports, the host of UTV’s entertainment cum gossip show, ‘Kokooko’ in one of the show’s recent episodes stated that Mrs. Afaglo had prematurely ended her career.

Beverly-afaglo-and-praye-wedding-14

Mrs. Beverly Afaglo however in a short address at the Actors, Professionals, Presenters and Musicians for Christ (APPMC) event last Sunday at Tesano Baptist Church denied the news saying “it is not true”.

When the actress took to the stage to give her address she said, it was necessary for her to clear the air about the falsehood peddled by show hostess Afia Schwarzenegger.

“I am still acting” she insisted.

She was surprise at how the false information could be said about her especially as there was nothing new that could easily suggest that.

Beverly Afaglo debuted Ghana’s showbiz industry in the early 2000s with TV Presentation before landing her first movie role in Venus Films’ hit movie “The Return of Beyoncé. She has stared in several other hit movies such as ‘Big Girls Club’, ‘Crime to Christ’, ‘Playboy’, ‘Girl’s Connection’ and ‘The King’s Bride’.

She has however, in recent times been off the screens for unknown reasons.

Toll Booth Attendant Remanded Over ¢2 Theft

A toll booth attendant attached to the Ghana Highway Authority has been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing GHc2.

The accused, Thomas Tetteh, is said to have on November 10, 2014 at Ayi Mensah in Accra stolen the money belonging to the Ghana Government.

According to the prosecution, Tetteh allegedly collected the money from a tipper truck driver but failed to issue the ticket.

However, appearing before trial judge Aboagye Tandoh, the accused denied the offence and was remanded into police custody to reappear on December 22, 2014.

Prosecuting, Inspector Pat Hanson said the complainants are police officers stationed at the Special Operation Unit (SOU) of the office of the president while the accused is a toll booth attendant of the Ghana Highway Authority resident at Teshie.

Prosecution stated that for some time now, there have been some reports that some operators of the toll booth do not issue tickets to drivers they receive monies from.

The police officer stated that by this practice, the toll booth attendants enriched themselves while depriving the state of revenue expected from the roads.

arrest-handcuffs

Inspector Hanson indicated that to forestall the practice, the SOU of the office of the president deployed plain clothes personnel to check the activities of the toll booth operators.

The prosecutor said that on the aforementioned date the complainants visited the Ayi Mensah toll booth on the Accra-Aburi road, where Tetteh collected money from a tipper truck driver but failed to issue him a ticket.

He said the driver was contacted and in the presence of Tetteh he admitted that the accused person did not issue him (the driver) a ticket after collecting money from him.

Prosecution said Tetteh was arrested and handed over to the Fraud Unit of the CID headquarters for further investigations. He said the accused in his caution statement admitted the offense.

New Ghanaian Coach, Avram Grant To Bring Back Muntari And Kevin Prince Boateng

New Black Stars coach Avram Grant has announced that he is willing to give midfielders Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng another chance in his set up.

The two have been suspended indefinitely from the Black Stars by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for what the FA described as disrupitive behaviour during Ghana’s participation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Responding to questions at his unveiling in Accra, the Israeli coach said:

“The door is open for everyone. They need to show they are willing to play, if they are willing to sacrifice then the door is open to them.”

His predecessor Kwesi Appiah was strict on how regular a player plays in his club before he gets a call up, but Grant told journalists that his player selection will be based on “Quality, strong character and willingness to sacrifice for the nation.”

kevin_sulley

He said his ambition for Ghana is long term and will do everything he can to make the team succeed.

”I’m very happy to take the Ghana job which is a big challenge.”

Speaking about Ghana’s Group C members in the impending Africa Cup of Nations, Grant said:

“I like to win and we will do everything we can to win the 2015 AFCON, but that is not the main thing. It has been mentioned that it’s the group of death but I must say we want to live, not die,” he stressed.
