I’ll Curse Anyone Who Says I’m For NDC – Mercy Asiedu

$

0

Mercy Asiedu has threatened to curse persons who claim she has taken money from the ruling government to join them campaign ahead of this year’s general election.

The actress in an interview on Kessben FM in Kumasi denied allegation that she has taken cash from NDC government.

“People just want to give me problem that is why they have created this false story I want those spreading the falsehood to  understand that I’m Ghana’s property so I don’t want to affiliate myself to any political party. All I know is servicing Ghanaians. Whoever Ghanaians choose as their president is also my father.

Nobody has called to give me money.”

According to her, the fact that minister for  Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare calls her often for discussion about the industry does not mean she has thrown her weight behind NDC. She told DJ Roar on the Kimasi-based radio station that the minister called her to organise a program for them to think about how best they can help develop the industry.

“She called me to say she wants to meet people in the creative arts industry so I organised this meeting for her. Nobody gave me money for that.

Since nobody has decided to give me money, I’ve also not decided to approach anyone for money.”

Peeved Mercy Asiedu challenged anyone who has seen her receiving money from NDC to come out with facts.

“Whoever has seen me taking money from anywhere should come out to say it. Why do you like disgracing people? That is why people do not stop cursing. I will curse anyone who continues to spread this falsehood”

Nigerian music has taken over in Africa and it’s partly because Nigerians invest a lot into their music.

From authentic music videos to international collaborations with renowned international musicians. Nigerian artistes can boast of international collaborations like D’Banj and Kanye West, Wizkid and Drake, D’Banj and Snoop Dogg, Davido and Meek Mill, D’Banj and Big Sean, Ice Prince and French Montana and so on.

It’s a different situation in Ghana, our musicians have become local champions. They are only known within the borders of the country and barely performs outside the country.

Here are some international collaborations that we think will shoot Ghanaian musicians higher and are also expected by their fans.

Shatta Wale & Alkaline

Shatta Wale has worked with international dancehall musicians like Jah Vinci. How about working with Dancehall music’s latest sensation, Alkaline, we hope to see that happen soon.

Shatta Wale/Facebook

Sarkodie & Twista

M.anifest & Kendrick Lamar

Our finest and deep rapper M.anifest could do a lot more with Kendrick Lamar on one of his dope beats. It would be a bliss to hear those two rappers murdering a beat.

EL & Kanye West

You Know Your Childhood Was Lit If You played Any Of These Games

5 Ways Your Nigerian Parents Dealt With You Back Then

$

If you were raised in Nigeria, you would totally understand that disobeying rules laid down for you would only get you into trouble with your parents.

Popular vlogger, Ngozi of the Ngee Show released a new video on her Youtube channel which she called “African Parental Discipline” and she touched these issues from where we derived the key points we are sharing.

The video talks about the difference between African discipline and the Western world discipline.

1. Negative Enforcement

This had to do with telling you to try out the negative side just so you can do the right thing. For instance, something like “Get pregnant in school” so you can be a teenage mother and be a drop-out.

Image: TheForneyFlyer/DaveForney

Image: TheForneyFlyer/DaveForney

2. Flogging or Beating

Generally, Africans believe flogging or beating doesn’t kill a child and so they continuously beat when you err. By the time, you think of what you want to do and the fact that you’re going to get beat for that, nobody tells you not to try it anymore.

Image: Geoffrey Butta

Image: Geoffrey Butta

3. The Silent Communication

This basically had to do with those times when someone is offering you something (money, wine or alcohol) your mum asked you not to do or take and one aunt or uncle is asking you to take it. A silent look or stare from your parents would reset you to factory setting

Image: JackYakubuPhotography

Image: JackYakubuPhotography

4. It takes a village to raise a child

Neighbors and uncles and aunts having to keep an eye on you for your parents so you don’t go astray. So you don’t know who’s out watching you when you engage in whatever you’re doing

kids washing

5. Fear

Fear is dicey. The fear of giving your father your results, the fear of breaking dishes etc.

Princess-Themed Naija-Made Look For Brides

The legendary House of Deola (formerly Deola Sagoe) presents Komole Kandids for brides.

Designer, Deola Ade-Ojo launched her wedding collection this 2016. The Komole Kandids collection is made from local fabrics. In an interview with Bellanaija, Deola had this to say about the duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton who she believes embodies the perfect Komole bride and the idea behind Komole Kandids:

I imagine a Komole bride. She is independent and in charge, but still demure and gentle like the current Duchess of Cambridge Kate MiddletonShe honors everyone that looks at her with her way and that wow Komole creation! …She is the new light in all their lives!

There is no need anymore to have Aso-Oke and a Lace outfit as two answers to an occasion’s fashion demands… we have combined both into one and by so doing transcended, making the new creation even better than the sum of its parts. The new fabric motifs and the fashions that we have formed them into elevate the wearer to princess level, while still keeping her culturally grounded – I believe that this is what true class and elegance is about, shining in the form of a glow rather than a tinselly shine

Here is a look at her gorgeous collection:

6 Common English Words That Have Been Ruined In Our Era

$
0
0

Growing up in the 80’s was really easy when it came to saying some words because you didn’t have to worry about explaining what you really meant.

But these days, some words though common English words are now sensitive and when you say them, it is mistaken for something else unless you have to explain exactly where you’re using it, or else it will be misunderstood.

What are some these words we are talking about, let’s take a look, shall we?

1. Blackberry

According to the dictionary, a blackberry is an edible soft fruit consisting of a cluster of soft purple-black drupelets. But unfortunately these days, saying blackberry means something totally different from the fruit and if you need the fruit, you still need to specify or else it will be mistaken for a phone.

PenseBerryFarm

2. Twitter

Twitter actually means (of a bird) give a call consisting of repeated light tremulous sounds. But since the inception of the social media twitter, the word has totally lost it’s true meaning and when you use it in the speech, it is usually mistaken for the social media website rather than the real meaning of the word.

We learn a lot of things in life and sometimes, we just tend to learn the wrong things as accepted practice.

You’ll be surprised to know that several of the things you do on a daily basis, like slicing a watermelon, are not being done right. Here are some of the things that you might have been doing wrong all your life and the right way to do them :

1. Bobby pins should be worn with the wavy side facing down.

2. Slicing watermelons is not the best idea. They should be cut crosswise instead.

3. A glass of wine needs to be held by pinching the stem with your forefinger and thumb. Not by wrapping your hand around it.

4. Earphones should be worn by coiling them over the ear.

5. A pen should never be held from the top or gripped too tight.

6. A pizza should always be held by folding it a little to make a U-shape so as to prevent it from flopping over.

7. An apple should be eaten top to bottom, not by biting into its side.

8. While doing push-ups, the body should be kept straight and pressure should be exerted upon the abs and arms.

9. While tying your shoelaces, the bow must rest horizontally, else you risk them getting untied quickly.

10. Folding your trousers? Don’t spoil the crease by following these steps:

11. You should never try to clean a blender by scrubbing it. Instead just add some dishwashing liquid and water, and blend it.

12. The best way to reseal a plastic bag (if you can’t master the origami fold) is to use a disposable bottle.
